Kia ora Nick,
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you doing the Summer Learning Journey, it makes me very proud that you are keen to work on your reading and writing over the holidays. We should see if we can have a go in a Waka. I wonder if it is like kayaking although from watching the video i think it would be harder. Keep up the good work - Dad
Kia Ora Nick,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Summer Learning Journey :)
My name is Hazel, and I will be one of the people reading your blog posts over the holidays. I hope that you and your family had a lovely Christmas.
You have chosen three great facts about Maui, and I can see that you have also heard some other stories about him. Maui and the sun is my favourite story about Maui. Did you learn the story of Maui and Te Fiti from the film, Moana? I really enjoyed that movie when I watched it earlier this year. My favourite song was 'We Know The Way'. What about you?
I think you are right about Waka Ama; I would also like to participate one day, although I think it would require a lot of training. Do you play any sports that you have to train for? My favourite sport is netball and I play every Wednesday with my friends.
Meri Kirihimete,
Hazel :)
Yes, I did learn the story off Moana. I do play a sport, I play rugby with my best friends I run on a Wednesday, I swim on Wednesday and Thursday and I like cycling. I have triathlon coming up in the middle of January. Do you do anything sporty apart from netball?
ReplyDeleteWow! It sounds like you keep very active during the week. Which of the sports that you do is your favourite?
ReplyDeleteIn October I ran the Auckland half marathon. It was tough, but I was proud of myself for finishing it. Other than netball I just try to keep active by going for runs during the week.
The triathlons are my favourite.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Jolie and I go to Glen Innes School,I am also doing the summer Learning Journey which means that I can see more of your amazing work. What was your favourite part about this activity? Why?. Keep up the great work.
Tena koe Jolie,
DeleteWatching the movie was my favourite part because I like watching sport. I will go and check your blog now.
Hey Jollie,

Hey Nick,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I hope you are spending a lovely holiday with your family and friends.
First of all, great job for posting your first ever Summer Learning Journey activity blog. It's awesome to see that you have been learning even outside the school
I've read many stories about Maui and my favourite so far is 'Maui and the Secret of Fire'. I like how you mentioned the fact that Maui has 4 brothers. Perhaps you could explain and describe their personalities! Did you know that Maui has a sister as well? You could search it up and find out more about his sister!
Waka Ama race is something that I would also participate in because it looks very similar to kayaking, and it will keep me fit and healthy- like you have posted.
I look forward to hear back from you and reading more of your activity blogs!
Have a great day,
Jade C.
